Düsseldorf places and people

I love coffee. Truth be told, I don’t mind if it’s cold, decaf,soy,Java-chip, as long as I take my necessary dose-few times a day. But it’s even better when you get free coffee. It had never happened to me before. Yes, I collect stamps from the coffee shops I visit and get a free coffee-but that’s only after I’d pay the price of an average espresso machine. But in Düsseldorf, I was welcomed with a free coffee at Starbucks.People in Düsseldorf know how to make tourists feel cozy and enjoy their stay.Amazing parks, cool play-grounds in the center of the city, busy streets and the beautiful Rhine dividing the city. Aldstad or Old Town is renown as the world’s longest bar in the world. With more that 300 bars, international cuisine and cheerful atmosphere, there you can find all sorts of dishes-from Serbian Grill to Korean Kimchi.

.

Flowers, cheese, meat- you can find everything on the colorful markets. At the same time you can get lost in the busy business district and enjoy your lunch in one of the parks surrounded by sky-scrapers.

When Dutch Meets Turkish

27 May

With summer around the corner, it’s time we revisit our favorite dessert and cool-down hideouts. Unlike previous year, this summer I’m going for a chocolate-free desserts. It’s high time I give all those nutty, fruit-based flavors a chance. This month my personal favourite is the Stroopwafelfeest ice cream flavour from Hertogijs with combination of tulumba from the Turkish shop. Pure delight.

Just add few scoops of your favorite flavor and make it extra sweet and crunchy with this syrupy dessert so called tulumba.

*Bonus Tip: Few walnuts will certainly give an extra edge.

No ordinary Jellyfish

22 Apr

The Lions Mane Jellyfish is the largest jellyfish in the world. They have been swimming in arctic waters since before the dinosaurs (over 650 million years ago) and are among some of the oldest surviving species in the world.

The largest can come in at about 6 meters and has tentacles over 50 meters long. Pretty amazing when you think these things have been swimming around for so long.

They have hundreds of poisonous tentacles that it used to catch passing by fish. it then slowly drags in it’s prey and eats it.

They have been causing havoc with Japanese fishermen, ripping and clogging up nets.

How often do we come across hand-made items that are affordable? Rarely. Maybe if it’s some outdated junk or some completely useless invention which not even a hoarder can make use of.

These guys have made a website that one can really hook on. Artesanio offers a wide range of categories. And it’s not the usual order of Girls/Boys, Spring/Summer type but it’s something completely fresh and entertaining. You can start at bags, check out some toys and end up buying some t-shirt with the wittiest logo possible.

In case you want to test you knowledge in geography, just take a quick quiz in the section location. There you can browse the items according to location.

Let’s kick off this spring with some fresh designs.

Don’t Miss Out On Brugge

12 Apr
It all started with a movie and a tower.
We never got to the tower thanks to the good Belgian beer. Getting from one bar to the next is quite easy taking in consideration that Brugge is a small place. And by the time you realize you haven’t been up the tower, it’s too late.
However, as good as the beer was, the food was completely disappointing. Belgian waffles with fake chocolate, Belgian fries from the freezer and grill restaurants with bad service. A good place to go is the brewery De Garre, where you can taste the local beer and many more. This is a cozy place with a mix of locals and tourists (It’s always crowded so it’s difficult to find table for more than four people).

Write about something to do with bacon

12 Apr

Bacon. Yes, please!

But I’m not talking about any bacon, I’m talking vacation, hostel, B&B, hotel bacon.

Often, I don’t bother that much about breakfast at home. I’d have an apple, orange or an oath meal but when I’m in a hotel I cannot help waking up early in the morning just to go and have a taste of that crunchy bacon.

Is the secret of this tasty bacon the fact that somebody is making it for you? Because it doesn’t matter how hard I try, I will never get bacon right.
